High humidity enhances the evaporation of non-aqueous volatile sprays

We experimentally investigate the evaporation of very volatile liquid droplets (Novec 7000 Engineered Fluid) in a turbulent spray. Droplets with diameters order few micrometers are produced by spray nozzle and then injected into purpose-built enclosed dodecahedral chamber, where ambient temperature relative humidity chamber carefully controlled. observe water condensation on rapidly evaporating droplet, both for single acoustically levitated millimetric Novec droplet. further examine effect humidity, reveal that more humid environment leads to faster liquid, as well condensation. This is explained much larger latent heat water. extend an analytical model based Fick's law quantitatively account data.
